(read more) So our purpose is to ease the hardship of bring a new puppy into the family. For this price you are not just paying for a puppy, you are investing in a bright future for this puppy becoming a well-mannered family member. Sure there is still going to be some work involved but let us teach you and your puppy the basics, let us provide a head start into your family.
How we choose our puppies?
We want to make sure that your new family member has a healthy long life. To do this we ensure that we use only high quality breeders. Each breeder I have met with and seen there facility and the Dam and Sire of the puppies I am looking at. This way I can check on the living conditions and the treatment of the dogs. I also look for OFA Clearance's, a health Guarantee, and depending on the breed other health related tests/ clearances. We make sure that we use only the best breeders and avoid any that could be classified as puppy mills.
What do we teach?
Our program is a 5 phase program including: Socialization, Manners, Obedience, House and Crate Training, and Leash training.
Each puppy that we train goes through intense socialization to prevent having anxiety, anxiousness, or being timid. This is most important to me, I love to meet peoples dogs and I hate when one cowers away or growls, so we focus on this throughout or training. Next we teach our puppies a series of manners (10 in all) such as patiently waiting at doorways and for food. We teach then not to jump up both people and other objects, we also want them to be aware of their teeth and to be gentle. As for Obedience commands we do your basics such as Come, Sit, Lay down, Stay, and many others. The next phase is a big one and very important, that is our House and Crate Training. We teach our puppies how to ring a bell when they need to go outside for a potty break. Before our puppies go into your home we have a standard set for them to be in the house for two hours without needing a break and we make sure they know the bell and what it means. For a new puppy owner the crate is one of you biggest assets and we want to make sure it stays that way. We make sure that our puppies are comfortable being in the crate. By the time they leave they know that when they are in the crate it is time to settle and quiet down. Our standard is eight hours through the night and up to 3 hours during the day without needing a break. Last is our leash training which simply is that they walk next to you with a loose leash without pulling.
This is just a brief overview of our training if you would like to learn more and see all the puppies we have available for Christmas than go to our website at www.puppystepstraining.com or call Brad Phillips at (208)-339-0032, Ami Phillips at 801-388-3846
