Below is information about rat terriers if you are not familiar with the breed:
Rat Terriers make great family dogs whether on the farm or in the city. Our dogs are known for their hunting ability and will keep your yard free of mice, snakes, squirrels and other creatures. They love to travel and be with people and are great with children.
The Rat Terrier, like many working and hunting dogs, is intelligent, active and alert. This breed is often mistaken for the Jack Russell Terrier despite differences in the profile and temperament. They do have the Terrier personality, but they tend to be a little calmer than most other Terriers. These dogs are loving and affectionate towards their owner and enjoy plenty of attention. They are easy to train and are happiest when they have a job to do or when they are outside playing or exercising. Socialization is required from an early age for the Rat Terrier to be able to live with other dogs, children and especially small animals.
I have been raising rat terriers for about 5 years. I love their personalities and enjoy my litters immensely. The moms let me help with the birthing process if needed and allow me to touch their babies when they are minutes old. the pups are raised on a farm in Thrall, Tx. which is east of Round Rock and northeast of Austin.
